John Du was named Partner, GM Ventures in May 2019.

Prior to this appointment, John was Director of General Motors Research & Development organization’s China Science Lab, which he led from its founding in 2009. He was responsible for building a strong and innovative research team and leading the research and development in intelligent and connected vehicles, battery, advanced materials, and electrified propulsion systems.

Before joining General Motors, John held several positions at Intel Corp, which included software developer, researcher and engineering manager. In 2005, John was named Director of Intel China Research Center. Prior to Intel, John worked at Spectrum Technologies, a video conference application startup company in Sunnyvale CA. John has a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering and an Executive MBA from China Europe International Business School.
